SUN JULY 20 2025-theGBJournal| The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) is set to gather stakeholders in the nation’s growing renewable energy sector again, to explore the tenets of the 2023 Electricity Act and the National Electrification Strategy and Implementation Plan (NESIP), and chat path towards strengthening PPPs for data-driven clean energy projects in Ondo State.

The gathering, in partnership with the Ondo State Government, is part of REA ongoing nationwide Roundtable aimed at advancing rural electrification and private sector investments, while fostering a robust electricity market within the States.

The Theme of the Ondo gathering is “From Access to Impact: Unlocking Ondo’s Renewable Energy Potential for Economic Transformation and Socioeconomic Inclusion,” and has been scheduled for Tuesday the 22nd of July, 2025 in Abuja.

By design, the State-by-State initiative continues to aid impactful collaborations in the State electricity market, drawing in frontline stakeholders in the clean energy ecosystem, including private sector players, development finance institutions and public sector leaders.

Following the passage of the 2023 Electricity Act by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the State witnessed the transfer of regulatory oversight by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to the Ondo State Electricity Regulatory Bureau (OSERB), marking a significant step towards catalyzing opportunities and investments in the State Electricity Market.

Leaning on the strategic efforts of the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the REA’s State-by-State Strategic Roundtables continue to serve as a meeting point for collaborative partnerships between the public and the private sector, with REA playing a pivotal role as a facilitator.

The Roundtable, initiated under the leadership of Abba Abubakar Aliyu, the MD/CEO of the Rural Electrification Agency, is designed to explore data-driven strategies, business models and investment opportunities targeted at improving the States’ electricity market.
