MON, JULY 31 2023-theGBJournal |President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will address Nigerians at 7pm today, according to his spokesman, Dele Alake, an address in which he will likely laud his legislative, policy achievements and call for calm among the citizens facing economic challenges.
The address comes amid the drum for a nationwide strike by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) dissenting what they describe as ”insensitive and unrestrained resort to neo-liberalism” by the Tinubu administration.
The Labour Congress is also challenging the administration’s ”flip-flops” that it says suggests the it is not prepared for leadership.
Besides, the government has faced unlerenting criticisms for its handling of the fuel subsidy removal and the consequent spike in the cost of leaving which many analysts say has driven more Nigerians into poverty within a short period of time, since Tinubu’s assumption of office.
The NLC argues that ”there is no where in the world that the government leaves the citizens totally to the vagaries of the market without some measure of control and protection.”
Meanwhile, television stations and other electronic media outlets are enjoined to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.
