FRI AUG 08 2025-theGBJournal|President Bola Tinubu Thursday nominated 39-year old Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat as Chairman/CEO of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), one of the youngest in his youth populated cabinet.
Ramat, an administer and founder of AG Ramat Global Links, a tech-focused company, also holds a doctorate degree in Strategic management from Lincoln University.
He equally holds executive certification in big data analytics and civil engagement from Harvard University, and in power transmission and distribution systems from Gonzaga University, among many others.
Ramat is accredited as the first to introduce blockchain-based decentralized e-identity system in Nigeria, while he was the Chairman of Ungogo Local Government Area, in Kano State.
The President also nominated Abubakar Yusuf and Dr. Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Consumer Affairs and Commissioner of Finance and Management Services, respectively.
”All nominations are subject to Senate confirmation,” the Presidency noted in a statement.
The President, meanwhile, directed that Engineer Ramat resume office in acting capacity pending his screening by the Senate-as stipulated by the law, to avoid what he says is ”leadership vacuum in the critical regulatory agency.”
He urged the new appointees to use their knowledge and experience to discharge their functions, and ”work assiduously to advance the administration’s power sector vision.”
