
FRI MAY 23 2025-theGBJournal| President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved Nigeria as host of the long-awaited Regional Maritime Development Bank (RMDB) and appointed former Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMSA) boss, Mr. Adeniran Aderogba as its first President/CEO.
Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola announced the President’s decision in a statement signed Media and Communications Adviser to the Minister, Bolaji Akinola.
The RMDB the financial institution intended to facilitate maritime development in West and Central Africa, is opening its 16 years after the initiative was announced.
President Tinubu’s leadership and commitment to regional growth under the Renewed Hope Agenda, helped accelerate its coming into operation.
The Bank will fund critical maritime infrastructure, fleet acquisition, and logistics across the sub-region.
Mr. Aderogba, a veteran in maritime finance, is to lead the RMDB from vision to impact.
