WED AUG 13 2025-theGBJournal| Idris Olorunnimbe is to take charge of The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) having been appointed as Chairman by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu announced the constitution of the boards of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF).
Dr Aminu Maida remains NCC Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, the President said.
Olorunnimbe, the former Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (LSETF) Board Chairman is named as part of a shake-up of the Board composition of the Commission as well as that of the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF).
He is also named in the key Vice Chairman role of USPF which is under the supervision of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, just as the NCC is.
Olorunnimbe will now become the central figure at NCC alongside Dr Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, who also sits as Chairman of USPF Board.
USPF is Federal Government owned institution established to facilitate the achievement of national policy goals for universal access and universal service to information and communication technologies (ICTs) in rural, un-served and under-served areas in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, other members of the newly constituted board of the NCC are:Abraham Oshidami – Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Rimini Makama – Executive Commissioner, Stakeholder Management, Hajia Maryam Bayi- Former Director, Human Capital & Administration, Col Abdulwahab Lawal (Rtd), Senator Lekan Mustafa as well as Chris Okorie, Princess Oforitsenere Emiko and Secretary of the Board.
The other Board members of USPF are Idris Olorunimbe – Vice Chairman, Abraham Oshidami, Rimini Makama, Aliyu Edogi Aliyu – (Rep FMCIDE) Joseph B Faluyi – (Rep. of Federal Ministry of Finance), Auwal Mohammed – (Rep. of FMBNP), Uzoma Dozie, Peter Bankole, Abayomi Anthony Okanlawon, Gafar Oluwasegun Quadri and the and the USPF Secretary.
