WED, FEBRUARY 06 2019-theG&BJournal-President Muhammadu Buhari today in Benue State announced that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) group will soon commence drilling for deeper search for oil and gas in the Benue Trough, where the oil threshold window is estimated at around 2000 meters.
It is not certain how much oil and gas reserve the Trough holds but an exploratory well drilled in the nearby Gongola Basin of the upper region in 2003 found no oil.
The President made the announcement just days after he announced the commencement of drilling in Kolmani River area, located within Bauchi and Gombe States.
The NNPC said the Kolmani River Well would be drilled by an oil services consortium, Messrs Etihad Services and Drilling Petrodynamics Limited under a turnkey contract agreement.
