THUR, 20 OCT, 2022-theGBJournal| President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the disengagement of the Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Effiong Okon Akwa, from his post, the Director Press of the Commission, Patricia Deworitshe said in a statement today.

The Director of Press said the disengagement takes effect today. It is not clear why the sacking is immediate and sudden.

According to her statement, ‘’Mr Akwa was appointment Interim Administrator of the Commission for the duration of the Forensic Audit into the operations of the NDDC, which has been concluded.’’

Recall that the President began the implementation of the forensic audit report in July, 2022, following the submission of the report to him in September 2021.

Meanwhile, the President has approved the constitution of a new management team and Governing Board for the Commission, in line with section 5 (2) of the NDDC Act, 2000.

‘’The names of the nominees for the new management team and Governing Board are to be transmitted to the National Assembly for approval,’’ Dewortshe said in the statement.
