THUR 20 MAY, 2021-theGBJournal-President Muhammadu Buhari returned to Abuja, Nigeria today after a series of high level meetings with top global corporate executives in Paris, France.
The President was in France to attend the African Finance Summit where he met with Patrick Pouyanne, Chairman and CEO of Total who assured the President of the broad energy company’s intention to fully contribute to the realisation Nigeria’s full gas potential.
Both leaders met Wednesday in Paris, France on the sideline of the African Finance Summit and in the meeting with Pouyanne, President Buhari stressed the fact that Nigeria is more a gas country than a crude oil country. The President told Pouyanne that his administration is laying a solid foundation for Nigeria to realise its full gas potential.
‘’Total has been an important part of Nigeria’s oil and gas journey for decades, and we thank them (Total) for their consistency,’’ the President said, adding that Nigeria will continue to work hard to enhance fiscal stability that will favour them and other investors in Nigeria.
‘’We also welcome their interest in expanding their investments not only in oil and gas in Nigeria, but also in renewable energy, and other areas. Nigeria and Total will continue to be strong partners for investment and development, for the mutual benefit of both parties,’’ the President said.
President Buhari held a flury of meetings also with top corporate leaders including Executive Vice President of Airbus, Silvere Delaunay, Chairman, Daussault Systems, Florence Verzelen, Chairman/ CEO of Gemtelco, Francois-Regis Teze and Chairman/CEO, Donaflex Automotive, Dr Donatus Nwokoye. Donaflex is a Frence-based automotive manufacturer founded by Nigerian Dr Nwokoye in 2007.
