The police are investigating the march by members of Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) in Owerri on Monday with a view to prosecuting culpable persons.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in Imo, DSP Andrew Enwerem, made the statement in an interview in Owerri on Tuesday, said some MASSOB members were arrested for wrongful assembly and marching; causing public disorder, panic and disturbing the peace of the state.

He said the group embarked on the march without any previous information or permit from the police and described their action as an embarrassment.

Meanwhile, normalcy has returned to Owerri as the residents are going about their normal duties and businesses.

The police arrested 17 members of MASSOB on Monday arrested for conducting a march in Owerri in commemoration of the 49th anniversary of the declaration of Biafra.
