WED, JANUARY 24 2018-theG&BJournal-The Plateau Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS) says it has set a target of N23 billion in this year, N2 billion more than 2017 target. The Revenue Service said it has identified leakages that impeded progress last year and will ensure they are blocked off.
The Chairman of the Revenue Service Dashe Arlat said that to achieve this target the Revenue service will “pursue and upscale thorough monitoring of MDAs, demand and ensure strict compliance by all MDAs in Plateau State to the government approved automation process of assessment, invoicing, collection/ payment and receipting”.
“These government approved processes are aimed to check, identify and eliminate wastages, leakages and omissions that lead to loss of revenue across board”.
Arlat while stating that the Revenue service was able to generate over N10 Billion out of the N23 Billion targeted for 2017/fiscal year said there are a lot of potentials not harnessed last year hence the Revenue service is starting on a ” rocket speed” to achieve its goal for 2018.
” We are intensifying sensitization campaigns across the 17 Local Government Areas. We are determined to cover the entire state and will use different forms of communication in a strategic fashion, so as to educate and mobilize tax payers on tax matters” he added.
