SAT NOV 15 2025-theGBJournal| The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Nigeria today began their two-day 2025 Elective National Convention in Ibadan, the ancient city and the political heartbeat of Southwestern Nigeria.
Over 3,000 delegates, governors, National Executive Committee (NEC) members, Board of Trustees (BoT), and party’s stakeholders from across the nation’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory are attending the much controverted convention in Oyo State capital.

”Today marks the dawn of a new era for the PDP, a moment of renewal, unity, and unwavering commitment to democratic principles that have defined our great party since its founding,” the Party said in a statement shortly before the Convention kicked-off officially.

The event, spanning November 15-16, will culminate in the election of a dynamic new National Working Committee (NWC), including a National Chairman, to steer the party toward victory in the 2027 general elections.
The Convention holds after an Oyo High Court gave the nod for the Convention to proceed, and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to monitor, and observe the process.
Presiding Justice Ladiran Akintola, at the renewed hearing on Friday heard arguments from all parties, including INEC’s counsel after which it reiterated the court’s November 3 interim order, mandating INEC to attend and monitor the PDP National Convention as scheduled.
