The Ebonyi Branch of Petroleum Dealers Association of Nigeria (PEDAN) says it will sanction any member dealing in adulterated petroleum products.
Mr Magnus Onuh, the Chairman of the association, gave the warning in a statement he signed and released to newsmen in Abakaliki on Thursday.
Onu warned his members engaging in selling unwholesome petroleum products including diesel and Kerosene to stop the act or face sanctions from the association.
He described the act of selling adulterated products to the unsuspecting public as dubious, mischievous and criminal.
Onu warned that any filling station found selling adulterated products would come under “the sledge-hammer” of the association.
He also advised members of the public to report suspected filling stations to PEDAN or security agencies for appropriate action.
“It has come to the notice of the PEDAN that some filling stations in the state are selling adulterated petroleum products including diesels, kerosene and petrol to the public.
“PEDAN has accordingly condemned the act, while investigation is ongoing to fish out those allegedly involved in the practice.
“We cannot condone such an illicit act and hence warned that the association will intensify surveillance and monitoring of products sold in the state,” the statement said.
