Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Health Pham Le Tuan on Tuesday said over 75,000 deaths are caused by cancer annually in Vietnam, while there are around 150,000 newly-detected cancer cases each year.

Tuan said at a seminar on approach to effective and affordable cancer treatment held in Vietnam’s capital Hanoi.
Reports at the seminar showed that cancer is becoming one of top causes for death worldwide as well as in Asia and in Vietnam.

Also, at the seminar, participants discussed major contents including cost of cancer treatment in Vietnam, coverage of health insurance for cancer patients and current trends for cancer treatment, among others.
