BENIN, SEPTEMBER 5, 2016 – Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Sunday admonished residents of the state to invite God to help them in choosing the right candidate to succeed him.Oshiomhole gave the admonition at the Jesus Deliverance Ministry, Benin, where he went on a thank-you visit for the church’s support and prayers to his administration.

He said that inviting God for guidance was imperative as power belonged to Him, and that He alone could guide and direct leaders to know what to do and deliver on their political promises to the people.

He said that unless God guided, leaders would work in vain, adding that there had been cases where people were elected into office and did not know what to do after their election.

The governor said that anything done without the fear of God could not succeed, stressing that he was in church to appreciate it and God for his stewardship.

According to him, it is only fair I did that as I have visited in the past to seek your support during my elections.

He said that his tenure was a story of miracle in view of his background and the fact that he had spent better part of his life agitating for the betterment of the masses.

Oshiomhole added that his tenure was also a miracle as he defeated forces that had dominated the nation’s political life.

“Although many did not know how it happened, every believer knows that when God says yes, no man can say no,” he said.

He told the congregation that he had always been concerned about the environment where the church was located because of the massive erosion threat in the area, but said he was happy his administration checked it.

“He said that he felt fulfilled in handling the issue of the environment with the excitement on the faces of members of the church, adding that it was so because the people believed he would deliver on his promises.

Oshiomhole appealed to the congregation to come out on Sept 10 “to make very important decision by voting wisely for my successor”.

He however advised them to first take an appraisal of the state on how it was before and during his tenure and be wisely guided.

He also urged the congregation to have faith in the country as present challenges facing it would be surmounted, and that church remained the strongest pillar in spite of the weaknesses of political leaders.

In her response, the Spiritual Leader of the church, Pastor Ngozi Peters, prayed for God’s intervention in the election.

The governor was also at the St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on a similar mission.
