Gov Samuel Ortom has appointed Dr Bem Meladu as the acting Secretary to the State Government.
In a statement on Monday in Makurdi, the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and ICT, Mr Tahav Agerzua, said the appointment was with immediate effect.
The statement also indicated that the acting scribe had already been sworn-in by the governor’s Chief of Staff, Mr Terwase Orbunde.
The substantive SSG, Mr Targema Takema, is currently receiving treatment for an undisclosed ailment at the National Hospital Abuja.
The acting scribe was until his elevation, the Special Adviser on Economic and Investment and was also overseing the office of the Special Adviser on Special Duties.
The Adviser on Special Duties, Mr Joseph Ikyaagba, had been in detention for complicity in the alleged murder of his colleague, Mr Denen Igbana.
Meladu is a graduate of Economics from the University of Jos and has held many appointments including commissioner for Information under the era of Sen George Akume as governor of the state.
