WED, JAN 03 2024-theGBJournal| The Ondo State Government on Wednesday, indefinitely suspended the appointment of Caretaker Committees of Local Government and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the State.
The directive was issued on behalf of the State Government by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
Recall that the appointment of the Caretaker Committee members was suspended recently by a Court of competent jurisdiction.
But some of the individuals previously appointed are, according to the State Government, ”still parading themselves in that posts.”
Consequently, the Heads of Local Government Administration (HOLGAs) in all the Local Government Areas (LGAs) and LCDAs have been directed to immediately assume responsibility as head of their respective Local Government Areas/ LCDAs in acting capacity pending the resolution of all legal matters relating to the LGAs administration.
The Permanent Secretary also requested all the HOLGAs to retrieve ”without delay”, all assets and properties of the LGAs and LCDAs with the suspended Caretaker Chairmen, Vice Chairmen and other members and ”to safely keep them within their respective LGAs and LCDAs.
