…Ukah expresses optimism on speedy completion of NUJ secretariat

TUE, FEBRUARY 28 2017-The people of Nsukwa Clan in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State have passed a vote of absolute confidence on the state governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for his purposeful and people-orinted leadership, following his SMART Agenda and prosperity for all Deltans.

This is contained in a communique issued at the end of Nsukwa Clan People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders meeting held at the country home of the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon. Chief Austin Chikezie, in Ejeme-Aniogor.

They commended Senator Okowa and the State Executive Council for approving the construction and rehabilitation of Nsukwa-Etua-Ejeme-Isumpe-Owa-Alidinma-Ndemili road, stressing that the road is very strategic to the socio-economic development of communities in the area as it traverses four local government areas of Aniocha South, Ndokwa West, Ika North East and Ika South.

While saying that the road is the shortest route between Asaba and Warri, the people of Nsukwa Clan pledged their unalloyed support and political allegiance to Governor Okowa, Chief Chikezie and the PDP.

They called on the people of the area to continue to support the present administration of Governor Okowa in his avowed determination to bring prosperity to all Deltans as encapsulated in the SMART Agenda.

According to the communique, the people were urged to be united, speak with one voice and work together as a formidable team towards achieving a common political goal.

They called on the youths to shun social vices and remain focused, and key into the various skill acquisition programmes of the state government to improve their lives.

The communique was signed by the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Chief Austin Chikezie, member, Governing Council, Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, Hon. Joe Adigwe, former Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Mr. Gerry Osai, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Research, Mr. Frank Igwebueze, Deputy Chairman, PDP,  Aniocha South, Mr. Samy Akaeze, and PDP state Assistant Financial Secretary,  Hon. Tony Anukwu.

In another development, the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has expressed optimism that the permanent site of the state Council of the Nigeria Union of journalists (NUJ) will be ready for commissioning within a short period of time.

Mr. Ukah, who made this assertion when he paid an unscheduled visit to the project site over the weekend, was delighted with the new speed with which work is going on at the site.

The Commissioner for Information however directed that some parts of the roofing sheets of the building be changed to avoid leakages when the rains return.

He showered praises on the State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, for releasing funds for the continuation of the project, an action he said, is a manifestation of the determination of the governor to see that the project is completed, commissioned and put into proper use.

The Commissioner for Information assured journalists in the state of the continued cooperation of the state government in providing a conducive atmosphere for them to perform their official duties.
