SAT, FEB 15 2020-theG&BJournal- The youths and general assembly of the Ohaji Clan in Ohaji/Egbema/Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, have petitioned the Governor, Senator Hope Uzondinma, to correct the historical injustice against the Ohaji clan. This historical injustice is in respect of the distribution of Board Memberships and Managing Directorships of Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, ISOPADEC, since inception.
Reeling out figures, they told the Governor, that it is unconscionable and against the charter of equity, fair play and justice to treat and marginalize the Ohaji clan in the distribution of offices. This is especially so since it is the Ohaji Clan that produces 60-70% of the oil output in Imo State. Additionally, Ohaji boasts of the biggest, certified gas deposit in the entire West African sub-region. Shell Petroleum and Seplat Petroleum are currently constructing the biggest gas plants in West Africa, in Ohaji. And Gas is the future, and Gas is the new world.
They asked how can a Clan with 60-70% equity contribution, not have been found worthy by the past administrations for adequate and sometimes any representations at all in ISOPADEC.
For instance, of the three clans that make up the oil producing area of Imo State, the position of the Managing Director has be held since inception of ISOPADEC as follows. 1. Oguta Clan 54%. 2. Egbema Clan 46%. And 3. Ohaji Clan: 0.00%. Detailed research reveals that this arrant exclusion is the insidious handiwork of an erstwhile Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly, who is a son fo the Local Government. And what drives him the research further reveals is his ambition to be Governor of Imo State some day, perhaps, as soon as 2023.
The youths and the general assembly thus called on the sagacious and amiable governor to bring Hope to the marginalized and abused peoples of Ohaji Clan, by appointing one of the numerous qualified sons as the Managing Director of ISOPADEC. For them, Uzodinma whose emergence is the handiwork of God as endorsed by Imo people, is look unto the moon that shines for all.
The petition was signed on the behalf of the All Assembly and Youths and Assembly Unions of Ohaji by Comrade Ugorji Emmanuel Chinonye, National President, NACOY.
