NSE: Market capitalisation gains 45.7 billion to end the week in bullish note

    SAT, 17 SEPTEMBER 2016-Nigerian Equity Market closed on Friday in a bullish note for the fifth consecutive trading session with market capitalisation gains N45.7 billion to close at 9.57 trillion compared to 9.52 trillion achieved on Thursday to conclude an impressive week

    G & B journal report that all share index closed high with a value of 27,858.48 which appreciated by 133.08 or 0.48% compared to 27,725.40 recorded on Thursday.

    The volume of share traded closed higher with an exchange of 289 million shares valued at N2.1 billion transacted in 3,617 deals. This performance contrasted with 200 million shares worth N1.6 billion traded in 3,257 deals on Thursday.

    The day’s trading activities showed investors’ sentiment remained positive as market breadth closed with 25 gainers to 16 losers, Nigerian Breweries proceeded to top the day’s 25 advancing stocks with a gain of N3.37 to close at N145 per share following the declaration of an impressive 2015 full year results.

    Conoil came closely second with an upper shift of about 2.95 to close at N31.84 per share.

    Nestle and Seplat has an increase of N1 to close N826 per share and N326 per share respectively while PZ concluded the top 5 gainers table with an increase 0.85 to close at 19.5 per share.

    In the losers table, Forte Oil topped the chart by depreciating by N3.99 to close at N161.01 per share while Union Bank came second with a loss of 0.22 to close at N4.26 per share. FIDSON healthcare decreased by 0.08 to close at N1.61 per share while PORTPAINT dropped by 0.08 to close at N1.52per share. Mobile completed the top 5 losers to decline by 0.06 to close at N170 per share.

    The banking sector continue to dominate the top traders tablewith First Bank Nigerian Holding concluding with a volume of 56.5 million shares worth N169 million of the day’s transactions while FCMB came second with a total of 32 million shares worth N32 million traded.

    UBA which sold 29.5 million shares valued at N124 million was third on the table while Zenith Bank transacted 13.67 million shares worth N196.6 million and Fidelity exchange 9.86 million shares valued at 8.7 million.
