MON, NOV 20 2023-theGBJournal|The National Executive Council of Nigeria’s Petroleum Tanker Drivers has debunked reports of a nationwide strike by its members.

The Tanker Drivers, a branch of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), said in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Comrade Augustin Egbon, that they are not embarking on any form of protest and are determined to continue their services to the nation.

The drivers union said the report of strike is ”antics of some desperate and mischievous individuals to cause unfounded and dangerous panic in the supply chain of petroleum products distribution in the country through spreading of fake and false news items.”

They also reiterated that they have no division in their union and the branch of Petroleum Tanker Drivers.

”Our members are fully committed and united in our collective struggles as we believe that workers united, can never be defeated.”

They consequently, called on Nigerians to ignore ”these mischief makers as well as urged security agencies to fully investigate ”this panic creating news items ”as citizens are already going through enough tough times and situations.”
