FRI, FEB 09 2024-theGBJournal|The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Ltd. has assured Nigerians that there is no imminent increase in the cost of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

NNPC Ltd. urged Nigerians to disregard ”the unfounded rumours” and assured that there are no plans for an upward review of the PMS price.

The statement follows the resurgent queues in petrol stations across in some major cities amidst speculatiion of imminent increase. Petrol is currently selling as high as N660/litre in south-south states of the federation and even higher in some northern parts.

The NNPC described the queues as panic and urged motorists nationwide against engaging in panic buying, as there is presently ample availability of PMS across the country.
