SUN, FEB 16 2020-theG&BJournal- – Twitter is abuzz with accolades for the management of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and its Group (NNPC) Managing Diretor, Mele Kyari for what many elated and surprised new recruits described as the ‘’most transparent recruitment exercise ever in Nigeria.’’
Kyari said Sunday while welcoming the successful candidates after the corporation’s latest recruitment exercise, ‘’we promised Nigerians to conclude the exercise with utmost dignity and Justice. We are pleased to welcome our young colleagues to a world of opportunity to serve excellently in a fulfilling organisation that I served happily for over 28 years. See you at work 4th May’’
Many surprised young Nigerians say they have renewed faith in the country after they received their employment letter without going through ‘’anybody.’’
‘’A friend of mine received success email yesterday evening. She doesn’t know anybody, I repeat she doesn’t know anybody. She was paid her interview tfare since September 2019. HashtagTAPE is working,’’ one elated female twitter user tweeted.
Another twitted: ‘’One of the most transparent ever in Nigeria. I have seen people who knew nobody got the job. Kudos@NNPCGroup for setting the pace…’’
One Aburrahman urged all MDAs to follow this ‘’behaviour henceforth. He wrote, I didn’t apply because I know its not for ordinary people like me, but I was highly impressed when I realised this is the most transparent recruitment I have seen so far, God bless the management team and keep the tempo.’’
Another twitter user said, ‘’I was so surprise when my sister got a congratulatory message from you (Kyari)  yesterday, she went through all the stages and succeeded, I was sceptical since she knew no politician or someone important. Up till now I cant believe she got the job.’’
NNPC recruited 25 Nigerians from each state of the federation and 125 more from oil-producing states.
Aliyu Abubakar Technical Assistant to the GMD on Media, said one of the biggest takeaways of the just concluded NNPC group GT recruitment is that never ever trust cynics.
‘’Whatever they say, please go with your heart, just apply and trust in God. Most times you will be met with a pleasant surprise.’’
