MON, MAY 18 2020-theG&BJournal- The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama has disclosed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) have both agreed to fund, as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), the cost of quarantine accommodation and feeding for Nigerians returning to the country.
The Minister disclosed this during the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 briefing in Abuja Monday.
Over 620 evacuees have so far been brought back, the Minister said weekend, and most of them have to be managed, He admitted that the ministry lacks the capacity to manage the evacuees apart from the administrative arrangements needed to be put in place.
‘’This is a challenging situation especially because the funding resources are not available.’’
Ministry officials described the NNPC and CBN intervention as welcome relief.
