THUR, 12 NOV, 2020-theGBJournal- The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) today announced it has began oil production from mining leases Anyala Field located in OMLs 83/85 and said the remarkable milestone will lead to an expected peak production of 60, 000 bbl.
The Anyala Field, discovered 42 years, is a shallow water asset.
According the oil corporation, the milestone marked the introduction of hydrocarbon into the Abigail-Joseph Floating (FPSO) Vessel which was safely achieved at 15.00hrs on 21st October, 2020.
The Group Managing Director, Mele Kyari commenting via his twitter handle on the development said, ‘’NNPC is committed to monetizing Nigeria’s abundant oil and gas resources from all our assets. It is in our informed interest to deliver gas projects in view of the resilience gas has shown in the market since COVID-19 outbreak and the value it delivered.’’
He also noted that the NNPC Group will continue to work with partners to deliver low-cost barrels in spite of the current market dynamics occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘’We remain ever committed to delivering value to 200 million Nigerians who are our critical shareholders,’’ he added.
The Group also operates the Madu Field which is located in OML 85 which is expected to come on stream in 2021.
