MON, FEB 19 2024-theGBJournal|Nigeria’s unemployment rate climbed to new a high in Q3 2023 as joblessness among women, youths and in urban areas increased remarkably, according to latest labour force survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
The unemployment rate rose significantly in Q3 2023 at 5.0%, an increase of 0.8% from Q2 2023 as labour force participation rate among the working-age population fell to 79.5% in Q3 2023 compared to 80.4% in Q2 2023.

Similarly, unemployment rate was 6.0% in urban areas and 4.0% in rural areas, while youth unemployment rate was 8.6%.
The rate of unemployment among persons with post-secondary education was 7.8% in Q3 2023.
