THUR FEB 26 2026-theGBJournal| Nigeria’s ambitious Project BRIDGE, designed to deliver high-speed, resilient, and equitable broadband connectivity to every corner of Nigeria, has secured a $100 million investment from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), reinforcing international backing for the country’s economic reform and private sector growth agenda.

The funding marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to attract long-term development capital amid ongoing macroeconomic adjustments.

Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. ‘Bosun Tijani who revealed the development on Wednesday said, the approval was giving as the Project BRIDGE team concluded the final leg of their Investment Tour in Europe this week, amid several extremely positive engagements.

”This investment comes in addition to the already approved $500 million financing from the World Bank Group for the Project,” Dr. Tijani noted.

Earlier this week, Project BRIDGE team also announced the signing of the European Union Digital Economy Package of €45 million which includes a €22 million grant towards Project BRIDGE, as well as €18 million for Digital Public Services and €5 million to support our 3MTT Nigeria Programme.

”These approvals are deeply reassuring as we reflect on the hard work and the air miles, across six countries in two weeks to secure the partnerships required to deploy 90,000km of fibre across Nigeria, delivering meaningful connectivity to all Nigerians,” elated Dr. Tijani said.

Beyond the immediate capital injection, the deal positions Project BRIDGE as a strategic platform for mobilising additional foreign investment.
