MON, FEB 10 2020-theG&BJournal– President Muhammadu Buhari will begin a State visit to Ethiopia Tuesday on the invitation of Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.
The visit, according to the Presidency is aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ethiopia and reinforcing cooperation in key areas of mutual interest between the two countries.
The President is currently in the Ethiopian capital for the 33rd Ordinary Session of the Heads of States and government of the African Union (AU).
Sunday, he met with the Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Nigerian-born basketball executive Masai Ujiri who led the Toronto Raptos to victory at the 2019 NBA finals on the sidelines of the AU summit.
The President also held a bilateral meeting with the Canadian Prime Minister after participating in the 29th Forum of Heads of State and Government of participating States of the African Peer Review Mechnism (APRM).
Nigeria and Ethiopia have had a long standing strong bilateral relationship, sharing cultural affinity, political and trade linkages for decades. Both countries have the largest population in the African continent.
Africa’s richest man, billionaire Aliko Dangote recently invested over half-a-billion dollars in a cement factory in the Ehtiopia and many Nigerian SMEs thrive in the country.
