Nigeria’s democratic future hinges on positive media approach to national issues – GM

KADUNA, AUGUST 1, 2016 – Malam Mahmud Barwa, the new General Manager of Alheri Radio, Zaria, Kaduna State, on Monday said the future of Nigeria’s democracy hinged on positive and undiluted media approach to national issues.He made the remark on Monday while taking over the affairs of the radio station.

Barwa said that it was very important for the media to approach national issues positively and without bias, so as to educate the people properly and encourage popular participation.

He said such approach would also help to escalate the development of democratic institutions, and a vibrant nation.

Barwa, who took over from Malam Suleiman Sani-Mohammed, solicited for the support and cooperation of all members of staff of the radio station, to move it forward.

“I must confess that leadership is not an easy task but with your support, zeal and cooperation, we shall together move the station to the next level.

“Be rest assured that I will carry all manner of people along because, together we stand and divided we fall,” he said.

In his speech, the outgoing general manager, thanked the workers for their support and urged them to extend similar cooperation to his successor, for the growth of the station and benefit of its listeners.

Sani-Mohammed, was moved to the station’s head office in Kaduna.
