THUR. 05 JANUARY, 2023-theGBJournal| The local bourse continued its New Year rally with positive performance Wednesday driven by investor’s interest in NB (+10.0%).
Thus, the All-Share Index inched higher by 0.1% to 51,657.56 points. Consequently, the Year-to-Date return increased to +0.8%.
The total volume traded declined by 17.4% to 265.73 million units, valued at N13.53 billion, and exchanged in 4,156 deals. BUACEMENT was the most traded stock by volume and value at 101.65 million units, and N9.85 billion, respectively.
Sectoral performance was mixed, as the Consumer Goods (+2.1%), Insurance (+0.9%), and Banking (+0.5%) indices advanced, while the Oil & Gas index closed flat. The Industrial Goods (-0.8%) index was the sole loser of the day.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was positive (1.6x) as 19 tickers gained relative to 12 losers.
NAHCO (+10.0%) and NB (+10.0%) topped the gainers’ list, while CHAMPION (-10.0%) and UNITYBNK (-6.8%) recorded the most significant losses of the day.
