WED DEC 24 2025-theGBJournal| Nigerian markets traded higher Tuesday, with both the NGX All-Share Index and NASD OTC Securities Index up ahead of the Christmas Eve holiday.
The All-Share Index higher by 0.6% to 153,354.13 points, dragging the Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date returns higher at +6.9% and +49.0%, respectively, while the market capitalization gained N587.89 billion, to settle at N97.77 trillion.
Market sentiment was influenced by buying interest in FIRSTHOLDCO(+9.35%), NGXGROUP (+6.34%), and VFDGROUP (+2.36%), which offset selloffs in NASCON (-5.36%), NSLTECH (-3.85%), and GTCO (-0.11%).
The total volume traded advanced by 55.3% to 677.43 million units, valued at N20.78 billion, and exchanged in 27,589 deals.
VFDGROUP was the most traded stock by volume at 191.97 million units while GEREGU was the most traded stock by value at N5.59 billion.
Sectoral performance was mixed as the Consumer Goods (+1.3%), Banking (+1.2%) and Industrial Goods (+0.2%) indices advanced, while the Insurance (-0.1%) index declined. The Oil & Gas index remained unchanged.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was positive (1.1x), as 28 tickers gained relative to 26 losers.
ALEX (+10.0%) and AUSTINLAZ (+9.8%) led the gainers, while ROYALEX (-7.2%) and CHAMPION (-6.6%) posted the most significant losses of the day.
Similarly, the NASD continued the week with a bullish sentiment, as the NASD OTC Securities Index (NSI) and market capitalization gained by 0.52%, closing at 3,570.37 points and N2.14 trillion, respectively.
Market activity however was negative, with the transaction volume and value dipping by 97.64% while value declined by 98.53%.
SDMRS (+9.09%) led the market gainers, while SDCSCSPLC (-0.50%) topped the decliners in today’s session.
