Nigerian Stock Exchange: Investors lose N369bn as 40 companies record price losses

LAGOS, FEBRUARY 14, 2018 – As the bearish trend in the equities market continues, investors in the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, today lost N369 billion as 40 companies suffered price losses.

At the end of transactions on Tuesday, Prestige Assurance topped the losers, dropping by 7.14 percent to close at N0.52 from N0.56 per share, followed by Skye Bank Plc, which fell by 6.54 percent to close at N1.00 from N1.07.

Consolidated Hallmark Insurance Plc placed third, declining by 6.06 percent to close at N0.31 from N0.33. FCMB Plc ranked fourth with 5.90 percent decrease to close at N2.55 from N2.71, while United Bank for Africa, UBA Plc, closed as the fifth on the list of top five losers, depreciating by 5.51 percent to close at N11.15 from N11.80 per share.

On the other hand, 15 gainers emerged during the day led by AG Leventis with 7.02 percent increase to close at N0.61 from N0.57 per share. This was followed by Berger Paints Plc with five percent increase to close at N9.45 from N9.00 per share.

Eterna Plc was up 4.98 percent to close at N5.69 from N5.42; National Aviation Handling Company, NAHCo Plc, appreciated by 4.85 percent to close at N3.89 from N3.71 per share, while Linkage Assurance went down by 4.55 percent to close at N0.92 from N0.88 per share.
