ABUJA, JULY 25, 2016 – Multi award winning Nigerian author, Chigozie Obioma, author of the novel, “The Fishermen’’ is set to meet with fans for a book signing session in Abuja.The event which is tagged ‘an Evening with: Chigozie Obioma’ is aimed at creating an interactive session with fans of his book which had been shortlisted for the prestigious 2016 Booker Prize.
Ephraim Adiele, the media Officer of Blues & Hills Consultancy and promoter of the novel, made this known in Abuja on Monday that “The Fishermen’’ had been translated into more than 20 Nigerian languages.
The event which will comprise the reading of the nominated novel, “The Fishermen, a question and answer session, as well as book signing would hold at the Salamander Café, Abuja.
The novel which is about four brothers in a small Nigerian village, who were given a scary prophecy that shook their family to the core, was published in 2015.
The Booker Prize, known also as the `Man Booker Prize’, is a fictional literary prize which is awarded annually to authors who produce the best original novels that are written in English language.
Winners of the Booker Prize are guaranteed international repute and success as the prize adds value to the sale of the winning book.
Obioma’s book is contending against five other novels whose authors hail from Jamaica, United States and United Kingdom.
