WED JULY 09 2025-theGBJournal| WAPCO (+6.0% ), GTCO (+2.4%), TRANCORP (+3.0%) and ZENITHBANK (+3.0%) stocks rose on Wednesday amid bullish sentiments in the Nigerian equities market.
The benchmark NGX All-Share Index rose by 0.3% to 121,989.67 points as the size of the market surged 0.28% to settle at N76.97 trillion.
The Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date returns settled at +1.7% and +18.5%, respectively.
The total volume of trades declined by 11.8% to 888.70 million units, valued at N15.61 billion, and exchanged in 24,303 deals.
JAPAULGOLD was the most traded stock by volume at 137.34 million units, while ACCESSCORP was the most traded stock by value at NGN1.85 billion.
The Insurance (+2.5%), Industrial Goods (+1.0%) and Banking (+0.5%) indices advanced, while the Consumer Goods (-0.1%) and Oil & Gas (-0.1%) indices declined.
As measured by market breadth, market sentiment was positive (2.7x), as 57 tickers gained relative to 21 losers.
ENAMELWA (+10.0%) and CILEASING (+10.0%) led the gainers, while LEGENDINT (-8.1%), GUINEAINS (-7.1%), ARADEL (-0.09%), FIRSTHOLDCO (-4.01%), and HONYFLOUR (-1.13%). recorded the most significant losses of the day.
The NASD OTC market exchange today, the NASD Securities Index (NSI) gained 0.45% to end the session at 3,403.0 points. Market capitalisation expanded by similar margin of 0.45% settling at N1.99trn.
Trading activity was mixed. Volume traded advanced by 320.62% to 3.86 million units, while the value of transactions dipped by 28.38% to N16.09 million.
In addition, total number of trades gained 9.09% to 24 deals executed, indicating few trades drove the market sentiment.
