FRI, 08 JULY, 2022-theGBJournal| The Nigeria Labour Party have officially announced seasoned economist and banker, Senator Yusuf Datti Ahmed, as vice presidential candidate of the party.
Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Party made the announcement on behalf of the Party today in Abuja, Nigeria, saying that the delay in unveiling a running mate was because of the detailed effort in the search for an ‘’eminently qualified candidate for the office.’’
‘’I have the singular honour to present by the grace of God, the next vice president of Nigeria, Senator Yusuf Datti Ahmed,’’ Obi said.
Senator Datti, born in the mid-1970s in Zaria, is an economist and a graduate of the University of Maiduguri. With vast experience in banking and business, Datti went into politics and served as a member of the House of Representative Senator representing Kaduna North from 2003 to 2007 and later as Senator from 2011 to 2012.
While still serving as a representative, he earned the Doctor of Philosophy when he completed his PhD programme at the University of Westminster, United Kingdom.
He was prominent among the federal representatives at the National Assembly who tenoulsy opposed the third-term bid of former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
He was founder and Pro-Chancellor of Baze University, a private University based in Abuja, Nigeria.
