Nigeria Labour Congress to strike over fuel subsidy removal after deadlocked talks with FG

FRI, JUNE 02 2023-theGBJournal |The Nigeria Labour Congres (NLC) will begin a nationwide strike Wednesday June 7, 2023, the leadership of the workers’ union said today after a meeting of its National Executive Council in Abuja.

The strike comes few days after it criticized President Tinubu’s ”insensitive decision ”his inauguration day to yank subsidies and after openly rejected the new petrol pump price outlined by the NNPC Limited.

The Congress had also assured earlier, before the NEC meeting today, that they have no plans to protest the against the fuel subsidy removal.

Top executives of the Congress including all Presidents, General Secretaries, Treasures of all NLC’s affiliate unions, State Chairperson of the NLC Youth Committee and members of the National Administrative Council (NAC).
