FRI, FEB 16 2024-theGBJournal|The Nigeria Labour Congress, (NLC) today declared a two-day nationwide protest.
The protest, announced by the NLC President, Joe Ajaero, is slated for February 27 and 28 2024, to demand implementation of 16-point agreement reached with Federal Government since October 2, 2023.
Labour had in February, 2024 decried the non-implementation of the 16-point agenda.
The agenda were focused on addressing the ”massive suffering and the general harsh socioeconomic consequences of the ill-conceived and ill-executed IMF/World Bank induced hike in the price of PMS and the Devaluation of the Naira.”
Labour argued that these dual policies have had ”as we predicted dire economic consequences for the masses and workers of Nigeria.”
Labour says it will begin mobilization for the nationwide protest on Thursday, February 22 which is the expiration of ongoing 14-day ultimatum issued on February 9 if its demands are not met by Federal Government.
