MON 04 JAN, 2021-theGBJournal- From just two National Reference laboratory for testing COVID-19, Nigeria now have over 100 laboratories, public and private, across all the states of the federation, reveals Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammad, today in Lagos during a press briefing.

Lai Mohammad noted that the treatment centres were built in collaboration with the states and the private sector across the country to isolate and treat cases of COVID-19, while the Nigerian government, through the Sustainable Production Pillar of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTF) has been encouraging local manufacturing companies to embark on production of consumables such as face masks, ventilators, hand sanitizers and face shields.

The Minister was giving account of the Federal Government’s ‘stout’ response to the coronavirus pandemic.

‘’I make bold to say that the Federal Government rose stoutly-with courage and determination-to tackle the challenges, and has continued to do so,’’ the Minister said, noting that the Federal Government immediately kickstarted a massive onslaught against the novel coronavirus as soon as it was imported into the country in February 2020, ‘’mobilising all sectors and segments of the country for a multi-sectoral approach to interrupt the transmission of the virus, curtail mortality, expand health infrastructure, bulid capacity of health workers and mount an aggressive public sensitization and community mobilization against the spread of the virus.’’
