MON APRIL 29 2024-theGBJournal|The Nigeria Footbal Federation (NFF) on Monday named Finidi George as new Head Coach for the Super Eagles, Nigeria senior men’s team, following approval by the NFF Board.
George has been in charge of the team in interim capacity folowing the departure of Jose Santos Peserro, after taking the team to runner-up spot at the African Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire 2023.
Finidi George is the head coach of Nigerian league champions Enyimba, and was a key member of the Nigerian delegation that finished as runners-up at the 2023 AFCON tournament after losing 2-1 in the finals to hosts Ivory Coast.
His immediate task now is to guide the Super Eagles, currently at risk in third place in Group C of the African campaign, to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
They face up against formidable foes, South Africa and Benin Republic in Uyo and Abidjan respectively in the Group.
