MON, 09 NOV, 2020-theGBJournal-Motorists and consumers nationwide face probable bout of petrol scarcity following Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System (IPPIS) dispute between the Federal Government and the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
The Association has already commenced strike and a letter signed by General Secretary of PENGASSAN, Lumumba Okugbawa, to the effect was copied to the Central Working Committee of the Association on Sunday.
PENGASSAN said the Federal Government has failed to make any concrete move regarding matters bordering on the IPPIS.
The Association threatened to go on strike in August over similar dispute but shelved the decision after it reached an agreement with the Federal Government to immediately pay three months salaries owed them using the Integrated Financial Management Information System platform.
The issue around the IPPIS were also on the table and was temporarily resolved, with the Federal Government promising to fix a date to close the disputes around it.
The latest strike action suggests that the Federal Government has reneged on the promise.
The Association is one of the most powerful union in the country’s oil and gas sector and it is affiliated to the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUCN) and Industri-All Global Union based in Geneva, Switzerland.
