SUN FEB 15 2026-theGBJournal| Nigeria and Angola have signed a landmark visa waiver agreement aimed at deepening diplomatic ties, boosting trade, and easing travel between both countries.

The deal is expected to open new opportunities for business, tourism, and cultural exchange, signaling stronger cooperation between Africa’s two major oil-producing nations and reinforcing regional integration efforts across the continent.

The Agreement was signed today on the margins of the 39th Session of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Maitama Tuggar and Angola’s Minister of External Relations, Ambassador Téte António

Tuggar said the agreement is an important step that removes a longstanding barrier to official engagement and opens the door to faster, more efficient diplomatic exchanges between Nigeria and Angola.

”It reflects our shared determination to translate historic goodwill into practical cooperation that delivers real value for our institutions and our continent.,” he adds.

Nigeria and Angola are bound by a deep and tested history of solidarity. From the era of Africa’s liberation struggles to today’s evolving continental priorities, our partnership has remained steady and purposeful.

This Agreement builds on that legacy and positions both countries for more agile collaboration in the years ahead.

”As we continue to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities; including through the Regional Partnership for Democracy and the West African Economic Summit, we remain committed to strengthening bridges across Africa and driving outcomes that support integration, mobility, and collective progress,” Tuggar said after the deal was sealed.
