WED, 30 SEPT, 2020-theGBJournal-The United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed to begin issuances of visas to Nigerian, ending the restrictions placed on travel to the Emirates following the COVID-19 lockdown globally.
The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika revealed the latest development.
‘’The UAE has written to state that they agree to issue visas to Nigerians, consequently decision has been reached to allow Emirates to fly into Nigeria,’’ he said in a short twitter note today.
He recalled that commencement of the Visa issuance is condition precedent on allowing the Emirates, UEA’s airline with major operations on Nigerian routes to return to Nigeria’s airspace.
The Emirates was excluded from operating in Nigeria with effect from September 21, 2020, after it emerged that the UAE was denying Nigerians visa renewal in Dubai. The UAE denied the claims, stating that what they have done is taking a number of precautionary and temporary steps to combat the COVID-19 pandemic spread.
