MON, 06 JUNE, 2022-theGBJournal| With receipt today of its Air Transport Licence (ATL) from Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigeria Air Limited, Nigeria’s newest airline company is poised to kick-starting domestics operations.
The Board, and interim management of the company led by Interim CEO, Capt. Dapo Olumide said after the receiving the licence, that commencement date will be announced shortly.
The ceremony which took place at the NCAA’s corporate headquarters, Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport marks a significant step towards actualizing Nigeria Air, an airline first proposed in July 2018 with the Federal Government announcing it will invest $5 million in the venture.
Private owners will hold 95% stake in the new airline.
Reports say the Federal Government is already in talks with Airbus and Boeing to acquire the first set of single aisle aircraft for Nigeria Air. And plans are on also to increase its fleet to 30 aircraft in the next five year.
Long haul operations of the airline is proposed to start in two years-time.
