TUE, 02 AUG, 2022-theGBJournal| The local bourse bounced back today, paring previous session losses, as the benchmark Index surged 1.35% to close at 50,626.04 points, the highest since 25 June.
Investor interests in telco heavyweight, MTNN (+7.45%), NESTLE (+2.99%) and Tier-1 banks, ZENITHBANK (+1.90%), and GTCO (+1.75%) pushed the broader index into positive terrain. Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 18.52%, while the market capitalization gained N364.39bn to close at N27.30trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions increasing by 25.99%. A total of 129.17m units of shares valued at N2.86bn were exchanged in 4,706 deals. FBNH (+0.00%) led the volume chart with 14.59m units while NESTLE (+2.99%) led the value chart in deals worth N748.09m.
Market breadth closed positive at a 2.38-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering declining ones. HONEYFLOUR (+9.66%) led eighteen (18) others on the leader’s log while WAPIC (-9.76%) topped seven (7) others on the laggard’s table.
