MON, 04 JULY, 2022-theGBJournal| Nigerian equities opened the week on a weak note, reversing last session gains as the All-Share Index was 0.07% weaker to close at 51,791.45 points.
The market’s performance was primarily driven by profit-taking in NB (-5.02%), WAPCO (-1.51%) and ACCESSCORP (-1.06%) which outweighed gains in MTNN (+0.13), ZENITHBANK (+1.14%), and UBA (+0.68%). Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return fell to 21.24%, while the market capitalization shed N20.61bn to close at N27.92trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions advancing by 65.33%. A total of 194.12m units of shares valued at N2.82bn were exchanged in 4,899 deals. TRANSCORP (+0.00%), led the volume chart with 25.07m units traded, while MTNN (+0.13%) led the value chart in deals worth N799.90m.
Market breadth closed negative at a 1.06-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. CONOIL (-9.90%) led seventeen (17) others on the laggard’s table, while FIDSON (+9.82%) topped sixteen (16) others on the gainer’s log.
