TUE, 26 JULY, 2022-theGBJournal| The bears continued to dominate the NGX Exchange as the benchmark index gave up 1.86% to close at 50,442.37 points, its lowest point since 4 May. This loss marked the ASI’s sixth straight session loss, the longest losing streak since the first week in December 2021.
Like the previous session, selloffs in MTNN (-9.62%) continued to be the drag on the overall market’s performance. Consequently, the year-to-date (YTD) return dipped to 18.09%, while the market capitalization shed N516.70bn to close at N27.20trn.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled higher relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions increasing by 16.78%. A total of 156.17m shares valued at N2.94bn were exchanged in 4,618 deals. FLOURMILL (-3.03%) led the volume and value charts with 19.32m units traded in deals worth N618.05m.
Market breadth closed negative at a 12.3-to-1 ratio with declining issues outnumbering advancing ones. TRANSEXPR (-10.00%) led thirty-six (36) others on the laggard’s log while LIVESTOCK (+1.63%) topped two (2) others on the leader’s table.
