WED, JAN 24 2024-theGBJournal|The NGX All-Share Index posted the highest gains of the major indexes at the close of trading session on Wednesday and it ended the day 3.00% stronger to settle at 101,517.11 points, signaling sustained market optimism.
The year-to-date (YTD) return rose to 35.84%, while market capitalization gained N1.62trn to close at N55.58 trillion.
Shares of cement giants, DANGCEM and BUACEMENT were +6.49% and +9.98% higher alongside BUAFOODS which closed +5.59%.
In contrast, selloffs dominated banking stocks, forcing UBA (-0.33%), ACCESSCORP (-1.22%) and FBNH (-0.78%) down.
Analysis of today’s market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down by 50.62%. A total of 488.49 millio shares valued at N8.04 billion were exchanged in 12,080 deals.
TRANSCORP (+4.51%) led both the volume and value chart with 95.11 million units traded in deals deals worth N1.59 billion.
Market breadth closed positive at a 2.94-to-1 ratio with advancing issues outnumbering the declining ones.
WAPIC (+10.00%) topped thirty-four others on the leader’s table while NEM (-10.00%) led twenty-eight others on the laggard’s log.
