NGF appoints Bello-Barkindo as head of Media and Public Affairs

ABUJA, JUNE 22, 2016 – The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has appointed Mr Abdulrazaque Bello-Barkindo as its Head of Media and Public Affairs.

This is contained in a statement signed by the acting Director-General of the Forum, Alhaji Abdullatif Shittu and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.

Shittu expressed hope that Bello-Barkindo would bring to the forum, his several decades of media experience spanning the print, electronic and social media both at home and abroad.

He said: “Bello-Barkindo’s selection is a culmination of an extensive nationwide search for a media personality with the right credentials to drive excellence in the governors’ reputation management process in national discourse.

“The NGF believes that he will bring his vast media experience to bear in the democratic space.

“He will play an integral role in moving the NGF forward towards achieving higher premium in member service and even higher national impact.”

Until recently, Bello-Barkindo served as Media and Communications Manager for Amnesty International in Nigeria.

He had earlier worked with a number of print and electronic media outfits.

Barkindo was a columnist in several national dailies, including Thisday, The New Nigerian and Daily Trust.

He published the Road Newspapers in Abuja was once Executive Editor of Leadership Newspapers.

He also worked with Vision Radio Abuja, The Voice of Nigeria Washington DC and Radio West in Sweden in Hausa and Swedish languages respectively.

Bello-Barkindo is an alumnus of the University of Maiduguri and the Institute for further Education of Journalists in Kalmar, Sweden

The statement quoted Bello-Barkindo as saying he looks forward to beginning the new chapter in his public service working with the governors’ forum.

He described NGF as one of the nation’s most prestigious public policy organisations.
