Malam Abubakar Umar, a former Director of Press in the Sokoto Sultanate, on Friday said the deregulation of petroleum downstream sector was a right decision.
Umar said in Sokoto that the decision was apt considering hardships Nigerians were going through in buying petroleum products.
He explained that the Federal Government should ensure that nation’s refineries were producing adequate fuel.
Umar said that the policy was laudable because those who supported lifting of subsidy on fuel appeared to have made more points than those who opposed it.
He advised the Federal Government to enforce control measures to ensure availability of the products to prevent marketers from exploiting consumers.
