TUE, MAY 31 2023-theGBJournal |The newly appointed Acting Comptroller General of Immigration Services (NIS), Caroline Wuruola Adepoju, Tuesday directed all passport offices nationwide to take neccessary steps to ensure no Nigerian is subjected to any unneccessary delays or substandard treatments in the course of applying for passport.
Adepoju gave the directive when addressed top management of the NIS shortly after assuming office from retiring Alhaji Isah Jere, the immediate past Comptroller General.
She said that she will be focusing majorly on passport issues and staff welfare as those two aspects contributed mostly to the complaints of Nigerians and NIS personnel.
She announced that a stakeholders meeting will be convened in the next few days to x-ray the real issues in passport process and to proffer far reaching solutions, which will include opening more front offices in Lagos area where the bulk of the complaints emanated from.
”I will adopt a bottom top approach in tackling officers welfare and will start by meeting all cadres of staff to hear their geniune needs in a bid to hit the ground running with a blue print that will be based on an all inclusive needs assessment,” the new Ag CGIS said.
