MON DEC 29 2025-theGBJournal| The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Sunday provided succour to disaster-affected and victims of flooded communities in Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Anambra State.
The relief distribution was coordinated by the NEMA Enugu Operations Office and held at Odekpe community in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the Local Emergency Management Committee (LEMC) and the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS).
On arrival in Odekpe, the joint team was received by the Member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Afam Ogene, along with other community leaders and the target beneficiaries. The team, accompanied by the lawmaker, inspected the relief materials ahead of the distribution exercise.
In her remarks, the Head of the NEMA Enugu Operations Office, Mrs. Ngozi Echeazu, who was represented by Mrs. Shantel Chukwu, conveyed the sympathy of the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, to the affected communities over their losses. She explained that the relief items were provided by the Federal Government to help cushion the impact of the disaster and urged beneficiaries to remain orderly, assuring them that the distribution would be carried out fairly and equitably.
Responding on behalf of the community and beneficiaries, Hon. Afam Ogene expressed deep appreciation to the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, for her proactive leadership and continued support to disaster-affected communities across the country.
The relief materials were arranged in food baskets and directly distributed to beneficiaries by the joint NEMA, NRCS and LEMC team.
